Technology - Sky has without doubt the best system on the market, and its introduction of high definition TV has only put Sky further ahead of the competition. The Sky+ television-on-demand system is market-leading, offering the ability to record, pause and rewind live TV.
Premium Content - The premiership is not far away and Sky can offer more live games than anyone else with the best coverage of over 100 other sports, many of them exclusive to Sky Sports. If sport isn't your thing, Sky offers 20 movie channels showing the newest movies, plus 18 documentary channels satisfying anyone's need for information.
Variety of Channels - Sky packages offer significantly more channels than all competitors at present. For example, the Sky entertainment package offers access to >300 subscription and free-to-air channels, while cable only offers roughly 120.
Pricing - Sky offers the most competitive premium-content packages on the market. Virgin and telewest's premium packages are defined differently (they exclude Disney cinematic and Sky Sports Extra on ntl) and we have provided an equivalent pricing metric on our comparison page. Sky's new simple pricing structure means that you can easily mix up a selection of entertainment, movies and sports packages. A one off installation cost of £30 occurs but there is currently half price set up when you take out any of the premium packages.
All Sky + boxes are £99 and Sky HD boxes are now only £249 (reduced from £299).
