Increasing population and drier weather have resulted in hose pipe bans most years recently, there are a few simple tips to save water and if you are on a water meter you can also save money. Take a shower Having a shower in the morning rather than a bath will save more than 300 liters of water a week. Though if you have a power shower, this can user more water than a bath so be careful. Brushing your teeth By turning off the tap while you brush your teeth you can save 6 liters of water a minute. Fix dripping taps A dripping tap can use up to 140 liters a week and if it is the hot tap it can add a big chunk to your power bill. New washers cost pence, get them sorted and save some cash and our planet. Only do a full load of washing 2 half loads of washing uses more water than a full load, wait until you have a full load to save water and power. Put a bottle of water in the fridge By keeping cold water in the fridge you save water by not having to run the tap when you want a drink. And anyway cold water is much nicer.
