A vehicle serves many purposes in an individual’s life, whether it is shuttling the kids to and from school, or travelling abroad on business or pleasure. Without a doubt, a vehicle is a tool for keeping people connected. Insuring connectivity is only possible by having proper protection for you and/or your vehicle. No one wants to use a breakdown service, but when you need to use it, the service is indispensable and appreciated. Unlike many other common roadside assistance providers, The AA offers packages based on features. Instead of purchasing a pre-existing feature package, the AA offers the features and you which you find necessary. How do those features stack up? By investigating the standards, features, and cost of each feature as was correct of January 2007, the consumer can better understand exactly how The AA works. Policy holders and would be policy holders will find the price listed is from 15% to 25% less expensive because The AA offers special prices for purchasing its services via the internet. The AA offers a service called Breakdown Repair Cover, but this coverage will not be listed here because the service is a promotion feature offered to new policy holders and is only available for the first 12-months of any new policy. All policy holders are required to have a roadside assistance policy or ‘Option 100’. This feature is the basis for all the additional features and can not be removed or replaced – only built upon. With the feature, the policy holder will have assistance should their vehicle breakdown on the side of the road more than a quarter mile away from their residence. Should the policy holder not be able to get back up and running, The AA will provide towing to a preferred garage. Sometimes, policy holders will find roadside assistance is great, but just not enough. Option 100 Plus offers all the features of Option 100 with an additional home start feature. Waking up in the morning only to discover your car will not start for some unknown reason is not the best way to start the day! With Option 100 Plus, The AA will offer the same benefits as Option 100 but for those breakdowns happening within a quarter mile of the residence in question. The price for an annual membership for the Option 100 package for a single person is only £35.25, joint membership £55.20, family membership £95.20, and if your vehicle is less than 10-years old, vehicle membership is £32.80 and covers anyone driving the vehicle. For Option 100 Plus, a single person would pay £80.25 annually, a joint membership would be £104.80 annually, a family membership would be £149.60 annually, and vehicle membership would be £67.20. Another popular option is Option 200. Along with the Option 100, the policy holder gets the relay feature. With the relay feature, The AA will transport the vehicle, the driver, and up to seven passengers to any UK destination – indispensable if you’re in the middle of nowhere and need to get somewhere urgently (think holidays). With the Option 200 Plus, overnight accommodations or a replacement car will be made available for 48-hours. The price quote for Option 200 on a single membership is £68.25 annually, a joint membership is £92.80 annually, a family membership is £136.85, annually, and vehicle membership is £72.80 annually. Additionally, for Option 200 Plus, a single membership is only slightly more at £93.00 annually, a joint membership is £120.80 annually, a family membership is £167.45 annually, and a vehicle membership is £99.20 annually. The compilation of Option 100, Option 100 Plus, and Option 200 is referred to as Option 300. An annual single membership costs £100.50, a joint membership is £128.00, a family membership is £175.95, and a vehicle membership is only £107.20. Finally, if the policy holder demands all of the features of Option 300 plus Option 200 Plus, the features of Option 400 will suit perfectly. Option 400 offers all the benefits offered by the AA at cost effective prices. A single membership costs £125.25 annually, a joint membership costs £156.00 annually, a family membership costs £206.55 annually, and vehicle membership is only £133.60 annually. This represents extra cost, but many would agree that, for the piece of mind offered, it gives excellent value for money. Finding the right breakdown coverage for you and your needs is not always easy, but the AA offers service and features most used by policy holders.
