In the UK, land in precious, expensive and constantly reduced with building plans. What was once green space in now turning into new residential areas, offices for business and retail areas like huge supermarkets and out of town shopping areas. These developments are not only reducing the outdoor space we have in England that can be enjoyed by people on a nice day, but also produces more carbon emissions when producing and using the built up areas. This is not good for the environment, the beauty of Britain and it is reducing the outdoor resources that can be used. There is now a chance to register green areas in the UK to protect these outdoor spaces against future destruction by land developers. These registrations have to be done quickly though as developers will bring financial and legal resources with them and then the small people do not stand a chance. The protection of green areas is vital to protect the land and the environment that we live in. If you have some green areas in your parish that you would like to protect then get in contact with your local council for information and proceedings. These lands can be greens in residential areas or town parks that have been used informally for years but may soon be under threat.
