Easier and Quicker to Switch Mobile Providers
In just 2 hours
Previously when a customer wants to switch mobile providers it has taken up to five days. In this day in age five days without a mobile phone is an eternity. Media regulators Ofcom have erged this process to be sped up. As from the 1st April 2008 it will only take 2 hours to switch providers. Mobile phone operators are in tight competition with each other as there are quite a few operators now offering competitive tariffs. So obviously operators will want to make it as hard as possible to switch.

Ofcom have encouraged the mobile operator industry to create a common database so that calls can be handled as well as any problems from the customers' old network. Ofcom feel that this will act in consumers interest. The communal database and fast switiching times may cause the operators to become even more competitive to keep their existing customers and gain new ones.
