Google is introducing a new piece of software for mobile phones to enable more web use. The software is called Android and it will allow the mobile phone to have more internet services like web browsers, as if you were using a home computer. Google hope this will make huge profits as they will be able to advertise directly to customer's phones. This could lead to a new change for the future of mobile phones as web on the move can be the norm. It may also lead to mobile phones becoming cheaper and speed up the process of making mobile services. The will offer the Android software for free to handset makers, as it is in Google's interest for this software to be on phones. Many phone companies have showed interest including mobile manufacturers Samsung, HTL, Motorola and LG. Mobile operator T Mobile have also shown interest but Google branded phone has not been announced. Google's new software could create a pricing war for operating system licenses and potentially cheaper handsets. Android will be released in the middle of 2008 and will have the possibility to change the way we use mobile phones forever. Internet use on mobile phones will be more accessible, fast and convenient; and with the huge interest from companies committing to this service it is bound to be a success.
