Have you ever run out of phone battery while you are waiting for an important call? The chance of finding someone who has a charger that will fit your phone is about one in 10. With different models from different phone companies you just cannot rely on anyone else. Many people now have more than one phone for business and pleasure; different chargers would mean that you will have to carry around a lot of cables with you whenever you went away. Well one of the most important developments of the year has been announced for mobile phone customers. All mobile phone companies have agreed to have one type of phone charge for mobiles and the same connectivity cable technology. Open Mobile Terminals Platform (OMTP), represents all the mobile phone corporations and they have developed a common charger to be used in all future mobiles. Many different charges have been evaluated to check out the best one for all mobile phones and the customers that use them. The OMPT have announced that the micro USB connector is the winner. It has a universal serial BUS and it is standardised for the PC. So these common phones will be able to be charged via a socket and a computer. The micro USB has the foundations to make it easy to make ultra thin handsets, which can still be powerful and have top features. The Manufacturers that will be using the new micro USB are companies like LG, Nokia and Samsung. Mobile operators such as Vodafone, Orange, 3 and T mobile have also joined declared a consensus as well. Apple and Sony Ericsson however will not be changing their charging system. This development is a sensible decision made by these mobile phone operators, as it will suit all customers and the charger is top class. Only time will tell if the other companies will loose out because they have not joined forces.
