Orange is set to release their own digital TV service after they have gained support. Channels from ‘Freeview', ‘7 day catch up' and ‘Video on demand' are just a few of the 44 on-air promotional companies that are set to join in with Orange TV. Orange TV will be in competition with companies like BT Vision who also offer a similar service. Orange will have to have something different to tempt Digital viewers away from other Freeview and digital services. Customers who have signed up to Orange TV will get a free set-top box. This will plug into the TV and broadband connection; it is also likely to have a personal voice recorder as part of the package. The TV, video and music services that have joined Orange TV will enable Orange customers to have top control of top quality entertainment. Orange has also created animated characters that will be used as part of the TV menu service. There will be three characters to introduce the viewers to the services on the TV and help them choose which TV, film or Music video they wish to watch. These characters are designed to be fun and inviting to make it enjoyable and easy to choose their viewing. It has been under discussion that these characters may be used in other ad campaigns by orange. We will have to revisit this when Orange have officially launched to check out if the service and these characters offer something different for digital customers that their competitors do not.
