PayForIt is a new mobile phone service that allows you to purchase things via your mobile phone up to the value of £10. This service is designed to get rid of peak rate services and give people a trustworthy payment system. When payments are made they will be added on to your monthly mobile phone bill and can standardise the way phones can be used to make payments.
The PayForIt service is designed for the use of low value but a high volume transaction market. The main thing that will be purchased via your mobile phone will be ring tones, games, train tickets, parking fees and subscribing to a service. Purchases will be made via websites or shops that are using the new PayForIt service.
Five UK companies have already signed up to using the service; these include iPlay, Gameloft, EA, Multimap, Sony Ericsson and Samsung. The official start date was 1st September and more companies joining the system will increase in the near future.
There have been many failed mobile phone services in the past but PayForIt has been given a good chance for success. Many people have shown concern towards how much they actually pay and if the payment goes wrong what would happen. The creator of PayForIt has stated that when designing he had those people in mind, and this system will get rid of those worries. Trust in buying things digitally will hopefully be boosted, as they will know whom they are buying from and how much they are spending. There will be information screens that will identify what has been purchased and what will be billed to the monthly mobile bill.
PayForIt is yet another service that increases our disposable life in a digital way. It will make shopping a lot easier and safer as less needs for lots of cash on you when you are on the go. This service will probably provide most use for digital game users and those who like the latest ring tones and technology on their phone.
