Tiscali is the fourth biggest internet provider in the UK. It is an Italian company has been seen as a possible take over target, but has announced that it plans flotation in the next three years. Setanta Sports is the Irish company that has knocked Sky off its monopoly for live premiership games. Setanta has paid £392 million this year for it exclusive football rights and won two sets of matches in an auction for this season. They will now be able to show 46 games exclusively live and 242 same day games. It was a big gamble for Setanta to make this investment as it only had 250,000 customers last year. Setanta hope to increase its customers by 1.4 million by making deals with other TV and internet companies. Home entertainment companies are seeing increasing competition for new customers. Including BT, Car Phone Warehouse, Virgin Media and Sky. Many of these companies have joined forces with companies like Setanta sports and with their broadband deal they will receive a free TV service. BT Vision have signed an agreement which allows new BT Vision customers to receive free Setanta sports when they sign up to a £17.99 or more broadband deal. Virgin Media will offer Customers broadband, a fixed-line phone service and Setanta sports with their XL deal for £20.50. Tiscali is the latest broadband supplier that has set up a deal with Setanta sports in a bid to get more customers.
