Problems have occurred for the world's largest mobile phones supplier when faulty phone batteries caused overheating. The overheating occurred when the phone was charging and there have been around 100 reports of faulty batteries. There has been no report of serious illness or property damage but this fault may have serious consequences for Nokia. The problems have occurred in batteries that were manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006. The faulty batteries can be found in 50 phone models and also old and new phones may be affected. Nokia uses several different suppliers and stress that the only faults were by that company at that time span. Nokia also state that 250 million batteries were produced in that time frame but 46 million of that batch were faulty. This problem will have negative effect on Nokia's brand in the future due to this negative publicity. Nokia's shares have already fallen 1.4% in the 24hours since these reports came out. Before this error the yearly stock shares were up 46% so overall Nokia is a popular and respective company but this recent error may loose their reputation and receive fines for their error.
